Dr. Loren Jay Chassels is an experienced medical professional and educator with a passion for adventure. From 1986 to 1990, he taught wilderness survival and aquatic skills as a merit badge counselor, lifeguard, and camp commissioner at Pine Hill Scout Reservation. In 1988, he became an Eagle Scout and earned his Amateur Radio License.
In the 1990s, Dr. Chassels worked as an Emergency Medical Technician and volunteer firefighter. He graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993 and from Rowan University with a Master of Science in Teaching degree in 1995. He then taught high school math and science in Alaska and Connecticut before hiking the 2,160-mile Appalachian Trail in 1999.
He earned his doctorate in 2004 and completed an internal medicine residency in 2007. Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Chassels has been practicing for 18 years. He also enjoys teaching various classes, including emergency response and amateur radio. In 2023 and 2024, he earned prestigious fellowships in wilderness medicine and internal medicine.
